Turned down buying silver today, thought I’d reflect on what I’ve got instead.

Morning everyone, further to my Au and Pt stack photo earlier this month, I've found an old shot of the Ag I used to have (🤔), to share.
3 of everything as expected, plus a few miscellaneous @BackyardBullion pieces.
With a rough conversion from metric for some of it, we are looking at about 310oz all in, the majority of it purchased from forum members since I joined the forum last summer.
Au and Pt photo thrown in for good measure!!
And that was it before it joined Davy Jones of course 😞.
Forgot 3 x 1oz proofs of  each the Panther and the Lion Tudor Beasts

so here is the finished prototype of my new piece 'skully' this was probably one of my most challenging pieces. I won't be taking orders on these they will drop at random times on my social media platforms. I will be putting a mintage on also which will be confirmed when I make the next one

    Hello everyone
I'm a Kiwi and have been stacking/collecting since March 2022. As a kid, back when America's first Catholic president was bonking Marylin Monroe, my brother and I did collect stamps and coins but it wasn't a big thing.
I have a basic stack of about 400 oz Ag and 6 oz Au.
On top of that I have slabbed American Silver Eagles and Morgan dollars, plus an assortment of high value gold and silver Items. There are many tempting sets of coins, but aesthetic appreciation of this artform is high on my agenda which means that rather than completing a set I may buy only a few from a set. I'll likely never have to sell, but I'm not above selling to buy another coin. I also buy with consideration for continued collector interest in 10-20+ years, for my heirs.
I don't have a LCS, so all of my purchases have been online and I know that, subsequently, I'm overpaying for nearly everything. It's a real challenge finding coins at the right price. I've missed some only because the seller won't ship overseas, or the US Mint (while accepting international orders) which doesn't accept my postal code/zip number and therefore the transaction won't complete. Also the added premium of p&p charges has an effect on my choices.
Still, I soldier on knowing that to my heirs, the original cost of any item is totally irrelevant.
     And lastly, friends.......................................life happens.

Hello, just joined today. Started collecting silver about a year ago. I've got some 90% thanks to my late grandfather and uncle who gave me dupes for helping him to catalog. Personally I prefer the really shiny, newer bullion and collectibles, basically like an art collection to me. Also worked to get at least one piece of silver from every country I've visited or wish to visit.

He sent them back because some were scuffed. They didn't come in capsules or even tubes in those days.
Bloody sacks, I ask you, what sort of quality assurance does that provide?
The Americans were even worse stackers. The coins had bagmarks when they opened the sacks, so they melted them all down, and turned them into $10 gold eagles.

Sharing today one of my most beloved sovs; everyone usually chases 1838 which is a lovely, and expensive sovereign, but not that rare even in high grade. Being the first year of Victoria, it has been kept and stored carefully since the beginning... but few did the same with the following year, which was looking like just one amongst the others (same happened for 1841); this coin is therefore very elusive in medium to high grade, and, quite surprisingly, pops more often in its proof version rather than the bullion one..

The gold that you should stack should be the coin (or bar) that is most popular in your country.   As a Canadian, I stack gold maple leaf.  An American would stack the American gold eagle or the Buffalo.  And for you Brits over there, the Sovereign and/or Britannia.  The reason you want to stack popular gold coins in your home country is because it will be easier for you to liquidate for a higher price when you need to convert gold to fiat.   But having said that, stacking the major gold bullion from Canada, USA, UK, Australia, Austria, South Africa...you can't really go wrong as they all have international appeal.
IMHO...if money is a factor, save up for the 1/10 oz size.  Buy on a regular basis to take advantage of dollar cost averaging.   You can never time the market (price) perfectly, so don't worry about price fluctuations.  If you are consistent in your buying, the average cost will correct itself in the long run.  What's important is to define your gold stacking goal and stick with it for the long run.  Your future self will thank you.  My 2 cents.

Another interesting silver date run could be 5 Francs Belgium Leopold I (1849-1865) + Leopold II (1865-1878)

For everyone celebrating the price rise. Are you all selling ?

if not, there is nothing to celebrate, stacking just became more expensive with more risk added to any new purchases.

    What a surprise!

    Hi all,
So, I think I've been bitten by the silver bug. I made a bit of an impulsive purchase of four 1 oz Rounds from a site I randomly happened upon. They're from a small private mint and I'm happy with what I got for generic rounds, but one of the coins has some... blemishes, I guess you could call them?
On the reverse, the left side (maybe 20%) of the coin has a slightly different, lighter/smoother finish that leaves a visible line running downwards in front of the eagle.
And then there's a small ding/gouge right alongside the Mint Mark.
Are these things I should be concerned about? Is it worth bothering the dealer for a return/replacement for the one coin? For me, this is one of those, "Now that I know it's there, I can't NOT see it."
I was able to determine they're made by OZ Mint, in Utah. https://oz-mint.com/

Another one who thinks this is impressive.
You will already know this, but for the potential benefit of others:
Shillings: will be quite tough to find 1850, 1854 and 1905 for sensible prices
Florins: 1854, 1862 and 1863 very tough indeed in any grade, 1892, 1905, 1932, 1925, 1891 tough in decent grades
    Half Crowns: 1839 almost impossible to find, 1828, 1841, 1903, 1905 pretty tough in any grade, then 1829, 1835, 1837, 1843, 1848 (etc etc) - good luck 😉
This is why I am a type collector rather than a date collector 😄
I'd forget sixpences as well as threepences!
