A trip down memory lane!  Unfortunately, I remember the last year before decimal currency 1970. Lovely coins, and a couple of the bank notes of the time
Total including the 10/- and £1 note = £1 . 17s . 4-1/2d  (One pound, Seventeen shillings, and four pence halfpenny)  Doing sums with old money was a nightmare!   Pence then was 'd' not 'p' 😂
For Bruce06, the farthing was demonetised in 1960. Before that with 12 farthings (3d) you could buy an ice-cream!

My ‘core’ bullion is split between sovereigns and 1oz gold, but 1/4 size proofs I find more enjoyable to collect now. Over the years I’ve collected almost everything, like betting on every runner in a horse race perhaps, but not for money!

As I’m already retired, my gold doesn’t figure in funding my lifestyle, just possessing it is my real attachment. I guess we are all different…..👍

Over the years I’ve never really liked IRBs QEII obverse, but recently have realised that given the right lighting, her details show enormous dignity, as in your 1999 Brit.

All my Proof sovereigns (forgot the 1997 - still in the box!) No more sovereigns for me, as now switched to 1/4oz gold Brits, QBs etc…..
