  1. Just back from the Midland Coin Fair, and nice to see @1stsovereign. Collected my shield backs (which I had ordered the day before). My Christmas treat!
  2. A great condition set of Gillick Sovereigns, all bought from TSF members over the last couple of weeks…..and not from The Royal Mint😉!
  3. I would really like to know what you are drinking tonight… (or a smoking)! 🤪
  4. I have literally, just completed a full Gillick set (10), having bought all of them from TSF members in the last 14 days. Six in hand, and four to be posted after the RM strike is over. Cost? Under £3800…Quality..make your own judgement. Free plug to the sellers here @1stsovereign@brnlx639…and when he eventually limps to the Post Office @augur Mission completed:- A saving of over £2700 compared to The Royal Mint!….but no box😢
  5. Always been a pleasure talking to you Frank.. Best wishes Kook
  6. I actually thought exactly the same😂…but didn’t post it. Didn’t want to appear xenophobic.
  7. I see the army realise how important it is to distinguish between the front and the rear…wouldn’t want to get that wrong with a claymore…or anything else come to think of it!
  8. Atkinsons Bullion can easily take several kilos in one go…not a problem. One TSF member put this to the test a while ago, and all went smoothly. I did half a kilo over the counter…and got paid straight away. Hope this info helps…
  9. I agree with all of the above, with one exception …1kg silver bars….I’m just drawn to Pamp Suisse…just can’t ever resist buying them..got 12 so far, and still looking to add a few more. An old photo, before Yas (old timers will know who he is) sold me two more. Btw…I will be selling the spare F15 kooks very shortly if anyone is interested. I’m just waiting to see if I get a customs bill from FEDEX ..if I don’t..they will be really cheep to a lucky forum member…first to PM me gets them at cost price.👍
  10. Arrived sooner than I anticipated..great service from thecoinshoppe.ca
  11. Hi @PandemicPanda…I suspect the privy issues are a combination of both of the above. Some made in the Perth mint, but some are definitely ‘privied up’ elsewhere…definitely the F15’s. Let me know if you make any progress on that front…
  12. For the record…a list of the privy (1oz) kooks I’m aware of:- That’s up to 2020 anyway…
  13. So was I! Despite this, I have ordered two of the F15’s , 2021 and 2022. Even with postage of $70CAD and Uk VAT, they are half the asking prices of the few that turn up on eBay. Drop me a line in a few weeks is you want one of each…(I will do them for you at cost to me).
  14. Just tried to bid on a coin in the USA, from a dealer I have bought from before, and EBay blocked me…is this new? Wtf is happening ?
  15. Looks like RM modern coins (Bond, Queen, Elton, The Who, etc) have been slaughtered…when you take into account postage, grading costs, shipping, auction fees etc..most sellers here will be at best even, and some out of pocket….and that’s when the spot price of gold is currently historically high (in GB£) One bad auction doesn’t set new markets prices, but I kind of think that this was in the making for some time…too many releases from the RM has flooded the market place, in a short period of time.
  16. I have found some paperwork with them, and it would appear that they have all been repaired (but i don’t know by who). There are also notes on different movement types, keys etc!…I think I will try and get a book on the subject, and have a good long read..just to learn the basics. I might Google a few of the names over time, as time allows, but there are literally hundreds to go through!
  17. Hi Just enquiring if there is anyone out there, that is knowledgeable about 19th and 20th century pocket watches.! A very close relative of mine has recently passed away, and I’ve inherited a huge quantity of them..just looking to find out more about them really…to show some respect for the lovely gent that has bequeathed them to me. This is just a small fraction of them… PM preferred on this one.
  18. I was fine after the bottle of Rioja, it was the ‘other stuff’, that tipped me over the edge!😉
  19. I thought her name was ‘Caress a ****’ …my mistake! (Sounds like pick) Chris has clearly got some censorship of vocabulary going on☹️) (credit to Alex Belfield)
  20. Okay …been biding my time here, and it’s all gone a bit too quiet for my liking (after a fine bottle of Rioja)…plus other stuff…. Regards to the RM’s business model… I agree with the OP, it is unfair!…in so many ways..however, I was once told you can never beat a bad system…and that belief has kept me sane for many a year. You can’t beat it, so you must join it! I first encountered the RM queuing system (a means of ordering what’s left, for the peasantry, after the sanctimonious types have had their fill) , several years ago, when I wanted to buy that numismatic classic, the golden gruffalo 50p Don't start..it was a long time ago (promise). Having waited up until 2am, I decided I was not going to go through that process again. For a while, I had a contact at the RM (not an account manager), who managed to bag me a few items, as and when I wanted…but that didn’t last long…I didn’t spend enough I guess. But…If you are bright and resourceful, you find a way to get what you want, but it’s not easy, and takes time and planning. I still do not have an an account manager, but did still manage to get a 2oz Gold Plain Edge, from the RM for £5250 (RRP)..so it can be done. And if you want to know how……maybe another time😉!…I PS Don’t PM me asking either…the answer will end in OFF! As an addendum…I actually joined the queue for the gothic crown (like the majority), and got a queue number of 6007. I then logged out and logged back in again immediately, and ended up in the shop at 9.10am, with no queue. By ignoring the coin on sale at the time (quartered arms), and ticking the box for the Portrait, the flaw in their website allocated me both coins on the continuity deal…utter madness! From someone who has always worked in either the private sector, or self employed, I’m staggered by how this company operates….they are in the dark ages in so many ways. They must employ dozens of staff in customer services…but if they managed their systems and production processes better, they wouldn’t need them….monopoly company I guess, so can get away with it ad infinitum. My main gripe with them is quality though…so many forum members have been disappointed on receiving their GC coins this week it’s criminal. Either the capsule is loose and it flies off, or it’s so freakin’ tight you have to resort to Heath Robinson type solutions to get it off (I put parcel tape on the top and bottom of the capsule, grab the ends, and twist!) Unfortunately, we have to deal with them…if we want their products…most of which I do not. If they didn’t produce sovereigns, I think they would have gone bust years ago.
  21. Might I suggest you open the box very carefully, whilst sitting on the toilet….lots of peoples’ first reaction has been shxx! I sincerely hope yours arrives in good condition. The capsules are truly shocking, so open the box with some soft material underneath!
  22. Outer box damaged on arrival (but coin seems to be okay)…I can breath out now!. Really feel sad for those that got a less than perfect coin today, I know there’s a few already, and I have previously fealt that pain.
