I may stand corrected, as am sometimes wrong, but this figure may be based on an EF or finer “grade”…definitely not trying to take away from the rarity of the variety. What I truly appreciate is the history and story of the Ansell variety.

So if I recall correctly, The Royal Mint has end of year sales on the previous years 1/4 ounce platinum Britannia proofs, at very reasonable prices…I have taken advantage the past couple of years…but then again, I am also unencumbered by VAT in US.

Kinda happy with the collection I have buried somewhere out in the backyard…couple 1817s, 1859 Ansell variety, 1937 proof, good overall 2017s…would really like to add the 1843 narrow shield and the 1863 “827” in truncation.
