5huggy reacted to sovereignsteve in Gold Monitoring Thread £ GBP only
The links between gold, interest rates, bonds and real inflation are well known.
I'm not convinced by his 3 U's though; not sure how you get an uptrend when gold is unpopular.

5huggy reacted to OldCoin in Greetings from Silver Enthusiast in Australia
Greetings new to forum after seeing YT video today, thanks for the great site. I thought it would be cool to join you.
I love everything silver and been buying silver since early 2000's, I believe in anything physical not into fake money, I like money from the days of old. My favorite coins are the .925 and .500 pre decimal Australian and British coins I have. I think my love for silver grew from when I used to sell silver rings at the markets years ago and being a treasure hunting metal detectorist. Later buying silver coins and a few bars, then selling at a loss and then buying back again at a premium, at least I'm well ahead in general on the spot prices now.
I hope to share the passion and even make a few friends on distant and same shores on the forum. Thanks again for the forum and Happy stacking everyone and God Bless from Australia.

5huggy reacted to HerefordBullyun in Collecting coins for the kids...
My son whose 11 now I've given him over 26oz already, I would wager that hes one of the only kids whose got that much in his city. He already knows the difference between honest money and fiat currency, he knows that paper money is worthless. I just give him random silver that I pick up. Lets be honest silver is silver, to me so it still has intrinsic value. I wil hold some CGT free stuff for him when I die, but I am happy just to give him a little but here and there now. Whatever you pick up - Its still a stack and a saving for your kids, for which they will be greatful. They may not have the numastatic interest or understand like you, and could sell it beyond its real worth, so I just keep it simple. I have to be mindful as my son is autistic.

" SCANDOULOUS"! In my opinion
£2,240 £/ounce
When it gets to that price in the "REAL" world - I will flog 75% of my tiny stack!
This is just playing on the "FOMO" bunch!

If you didn't tell me that it was a dragon I wouldn't have known by just looking at it. I see an octopus wrestling with a snake ? Or a ?? I dunno, probably just me 🙂

No, but that price sounds to be normal to slightly low for an RM gold proof.
But it was the 2 different issue limits I was looking at. Which one is true, if either?

5huggy reacted to Pete in Britannia 2021 UK Two Ounce Gold Proof Coin Royal Mint Page
I guess the number 50 is part of the description like series number 50 and not the mintage.
Maybe another "tits up" or "balls up" ( according to gender ) - remember the RM promoting their £20 to £100 legal tender silver coins that cannot be spent, other than settling a debt in court.
I would definitely say misleading but wouldn't pay that price for a 2 ounce anyhow even if it was made from Churchill's stolen Blenheim gold toilet.

5huggy reacted to DaKine in 2021 Britannia(s) - "Ugly", You Now Have a New Entry in the Encyclopedia
I just got the obligatory Royal Mint email on this new offering, and must say was totally appalled by the ugliness of the design(s). You will see, if you care to look, that they now have a standard collector Britannia that rips of the Una and the Lion theme and now also the RM's attempt at presenting an "Universal Britannia" - how do I say that in PC terms??
-
5huggy reacted to Pete in Suspect my new purchase may be fake!
On eBay you have buyer protection.
Raise a "not as described" state that it is not silver and therefore a fake as shown by a magnet sticking to it.
Do not return it until (a) eBay have refunded you and (b) eBay or the seller provides a prepaid returns label which should be using a tracked service and not regular post.
I would be inclined not to return a fake because it will inevitably end up scamming someone else but maybe ask eBay for advice ( could be a total waste of time though ).
See what the seller has to say.
