    This from Chards

    Platinum Forgeries
Between the 1860's and about 1881, platinum was used, in Spain, to counterfeit gold coins including sovereigns. These were apparently made to order for a North American, the coins being mainly destined for use in South America. Although platinum is denser than gold, by alloying it with an appropriate amount of copper, it can be brought to the correct density. It was then gold plated, and apparently made very effective counterfeits. The practice is believed to have stopped only because the price of platinum rose to an uneconomic level. It is likely that the fakes would be worth more now than the originals. Platinum fake sovereigns have been recorded of shield sovereigns dated between 1861 and 1872.

All years mate. They only had 5 Victorian in stock, but more later ones. They find all sovereigns quite hard to get hold of though.

Maybe someone misidentified or didn't care for the other items, but an ASE with COA and box  , I'd forget the missus before I left one of them behind. Obviously I'm only joking, but... .

I went to a moving company auction, where the moving company auctions off stuff people didn't pay them to move, they put all the stuff in small lots (100 or so) and you have to bid on each lot you want.  I won 2 lots, about 5 or 6 boxes in each lot.  You can't look in the boxes - So it's gambling, the two lots I won cost me a total of $97 and I bought them cause they said "Cars" on one of the boxes in each of the lots.

So I did get some 1:18 scale cars and a lot of other old stuff, but I also got some silver

The pencil and the business card holder is sterling silver, I just wish I would of bid on all the other lots, I keep thinking I missed the jackpot.
