Buying into the 2oz quartered arms hype, thinking it was going to be a big hit. Buying my initial coin for £800 from chards! Then buying two more subsequent coins off the forum for around £560 and £600 (was gutted because of my initiial purchase, but tbought these were a bargain!) Decided to grade both, managed to get a pf70 on the one, but aeound that time it was selling for no more than £350......now i see pf70s for less than RRP!
 
So silly, but lesson learnt.

Just arrived - I'm now the proud owner of this fantastic Five Sovereign Proof Platinum Jubilee PF70  for my long term "retirement fund" collection.

I ordered a coin from them 2 months ago, has not been despatched to me yet, so decided to cancel.
They charge a 15% cancellation fee(about £60 for my order) which is excessive for a distant selling product that they have not even despatched yet.
Something to consider if ordering from them.

I could say it's my experience in handling thousands of sovereigns, of all years and mints, but let's just say I have a very keen eye for detail 
 
The biggest giveaway of course was that Lawrence had cleverly titled the photograph 😎

If anyone has had enough over the fuss with the new Royal Mint Gothic Crowns, there is the original deal for sale tomorrow. An 1847 Victorian Gothic Crown! Alnwick Auctions, currently on easylive and the saleroom. Only at £750! Be interesting to see what it finally goes for. Not brilliant condition, but quite a coin. Don’t think this one will get into my collection!
 

Following on from the similar deal on the Gold Deals page this seems a great price for 1oz Brits from a dealer. Currently £22.96 /oz (Inc Vat) +P/P. Hopefully puts a little bit of pressure on some other UK dealers pricing for silver coins.

Hi, as a noob  I want to get the opinion of other forum members. In the linked video this guy is saying that in his opinion he is coming accross lots of fake pre 1947 coins. I have also seen a  youtube comment from an  apparent jewellery shop owner who is also saying that he  has seen large batches of fake plated pre 1947 coins.
On this forum I have seen comments saying that because the silver content is only .500 then it would not be worth the effort to fake them......who is correct? I really want to collect largr amounts of pre 1947 but I must admit I am worried about fakes....should I be? 
Will the normal magnet,  weight and dimension checks be enough to spot any fakes? Any advice is much appreciated.

Just got this PF 70 today & although I'm not thrilled by this starting design of the Tudor Beasts, I had to have it as I believe/hope forthcoming issues of this series will be better. I know from experience missing the 1st couple from a series can be both a frustrating & expensive mistake when hunting them down later.
