  1. It sounds like you might have received a rare mint error. I didn't realise Queen Victoria had died more than 1,000 years ago. It seems like only yesterday! 😎
  2. Looks like you got it right. It is probably an easy mistake to make. Probably some junior or trainee entering the descriptions, and thinking S = Silver, even though S$1 means Silver 1 Dollar. If it said "W", would it be Tungsten (Wolfram)? 😎
  3. Krugerrands? Maximum I remember managing was 500, in tubes, about 18 or 19 kilos. Although I should have said it depends on the size of your rucksack! 😎
  4. When you said you collect Napoleon coins, I thought you meant Napoleon I Bonaparte. I would always call Napoleon III "Napoleon III" to avoid ambiguity. Sometimes I specify Napoleon Bonaparte or Napoleon I for the same reason. It might be easier to collect coins of Napoleon II, as there are not as many, but they might end up costing you more! This is a very old page of mine / ours: https://taxfreegold.co.uk/francenapoleonbonaparte.html Of course, you will surely know he also appeared on Italian coins: https://taxfreegold.co.uk/italianstates.html 😎
  5. Are those storage figures for allocated on unallocated metals? 😎
  6. Wikipedia has a good page about it: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hatton_Garden_safe_deposit_burglary 😎
  7. Correct, they were expecting to get £3.2 million in cash, I was not aware they only had a Ford Transit. The maximum payload at the time would have only been between 1 and 1.5 tonnes. You need a 7.5 tonne truck to carry up to 3 or 3.5 tonnes. I know from experience, but I have only done it with silver. 😎
  8. Were they gold Krugerrands (the real thing, made since 1967), or silver Krugerrands which only came out in 2017? You may also find this useful: https://www.chards.co.uk/guides/advice-guide-for-uk-bullion-investors/1041 😎
  9. Good thinking, I heard and saw something about it a few days ago. My wife said I would enjoy laughing at it when they pick up and throw around gold bars as if they were made of plastic or aluminium. The Official Trailer picture is a great example. It is the size and shape of a London Good Delivey bar +-400 ounces / 12.5 kilos, but with unrealistically polished sides. The actor is holding it as if it weighs next to nothing. Also the bars in the robbery were all reported to be kilo bars I think, and the bar in the picture is much bigger than a kilo! This is worth reading: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Brink's-Mat_robbery 😎
  10. Precise? 😎 Don't worry, I'm just being pedantic!
  11. Now if the TSF Compare tool showed prices (with or without postage) on various quantity breaks, that would be great... ... in fact, almost as good as the Price Comparison Against Other UK Bullion Dealers on the Chards website! 😎
  12. They must have changed it sometime in the last 10 years, because the selling fee used to only be on the item, not the postage. 😎
  13. It is my belief that ebay encourage "free postage" for two reasons: 1) They then get commission on the entire deal. 2) It discourages sellers from loading up the postage, for example, selling the item for 1p, with £10 postage. 😎
  14. More work to program it, and takes more room up on the page... besides... We are waiting for you to program it! 😎
  15. Best to ask our Customer Service Team, but the memorial sovereigns were due to arrive today, and I thought I saw them. @ChardsCoinandBullionDealer 😎
  16. Special delivery is normally next day if Royal Mail are doing their job! 😎
  17. Sounds like a very good supplier. ... although I was not aware this was a dating site! 😎
  18. This may be useful for you: https://www.chards.co.uk/guides/advice-guide-for-uk-bullion-investors/1041 😎
  19. Yes, I don't mind the banter, in fact it is quite good fun. There are a small number of people who sometimes misunderstand, so I often try to spell things out, just in case. 😎
  20. Even if I / we couldn't, I would happily accept it, especially if that was the best deal available. I would certainly not want to pass on extra costs to our customers, for more than one reason. 😎
  21. Don't worry about the postage cost, you can get free postage here: Product QTY Unit Price Subtotal (ex. VAT) VAT Subtotal 2022 Queen Elizabeth II Memorial Sovereign Pre-order now, stock expected 07/02/2023 £401.60 £200,800 £0.00 £200,800 For only an extra £5000+ 😎
  22. We often spend over £1 million, and happily pay shipping! 😎
  23. Just be aware you will need an apointment, because we are so busy! 😎
  24. You have quoted me out of context, and / or misunderstood my points. You have also conflated at least 3 different concepts by selectively quoting from different posts, each of which made different points, even though they were related. It would have been helpful and clearer if you had inserted a link to each of the posts you were referring to, then readers could easily refer to the actual quotes in their original context. I will attempt to answer your questions and attempt to clear up any misunderstanding: 1) "Why does offering good customer service mean treating customers like "punters"" I did not say that "offering good customer service mean treating customers like "punters"". In this post: I was pointing out that if we were to emulate many of our competitors, and offer allegedly "free" postage, we would be treating them as "punters". This is a term I disilke intensely, because it has negative, pejorative connotations. I never apply it to our customers. By prominently promoting "free" postage, I consider that these competitors are treating their potential customers are peddling misinformation and propaganda, effectively treating their target audience as punters. "...and WHY would you need to charge £20 extra per coin to cover postage costs? I did not say we would need to charge £20 extra per coin to cover postage costs. What I did say was: "If we are going to treat customers as "punters" and tell them they are getting free postage, then we might as well go the whole hog, and charge £20 per coin extra. That way, everyone's happy." This was referring, with a touch of intended light humour, to the fact that some of our biggest and most successful competitors loudly proclaim "FREE fully insured delivery", but they do charge much more, and their total price is more than ours when comparing like for like with postage included, for example: Price Comparison Against Other UK Bullion Dealers - Updated at 03-Feb-2023 08:36 Qty Chards (Excl Delivery) Chards (Inc Delivery) B* G* A BB GER 1 £397.04 £403.04 £415.20 £413.10 £404.59 £407.82 £405.40 5 £396.85 £398.25 £413.20 £408.40 £399.79 £405.32 £401.70 10 £396.67 £397.47 £411.30 £407.50 £399.09 £404.82 £401.50 25 £396.48 £396.96 £409.50 £406.30 £398.59 £404.32 £399.10 50 £395.93 £396.31 £408.40 £405.00 £398.09 £403.82 £398.20 100 £394.45 £394.77 £408.40 £404.40 £396.50 £403.52 £396.60 250 £394.27 £394.64 £408.40 £404.40 £396.40 £403.12 £396.60 500 £394.08 £394.40 £408.40 £404.40 £396.40 £402.82 £396.60 1000 £393.90 £394.19 £408.40 £404.40 £396.40 £402.82 £396.60 You can see that "B's" (Bullion By Post) total price for a single coin (2022 Memorial Gold Bullion Sovereign) was £415.20 against £403.04 from Chards. While this is only just over £12 extra, it does not invalidate my point. Further, if you bought 2 coins, you would pay £830.40 from BbP, compared with £800.09 from Chards, a difference of more than £30. For some reason, their sister website "Gold.co.uk" charges £413.10 per coin. Many people seem happy to buy from Bullion by Post. Whether they know they could buy better elsewhere I don't know, but perhaps they are unduly influenced by "free postage", or their claim to be "The UK's No. 1 Online Bullion Dealer*" Note the asterisk! We do have a blog post here, explaining more of our philosophy about "free postage": https://www.chards.co.uk/guides/free-postage/26/4947 I need to go and check some coins, and help with a few other enquiries, so I will take a break after posting this, and return to respond to your other points later, if that's OK. 😎
