  1. @Rares I don't if you know the mintage on that coin but the declared mintage is 20,602
  2. I've just had an email from Atkinsons who are paying 10% over spot for silver coins. Might be useful for anyone who has big lump of coins they want gone quickly.
  3. @dicker you are not wrong about ms 70 kooks being expensive, I've got a few coming from the US over the next week or so. I haven't bought anything from the US for nearly 2 years & am a bit annoyed that you pay a sales tax on top of your purchase price on ebay & elsewhere I didn'tpay any sales tax before. Then I've got the vat grief to look forward to here. I guess in the US they are hunting for tax everywhere same as here to pizz up the wall & fund illegals grrrr.
  4. @kimchi did have lol I'm not up to speed with the newer stuff.
  5. I am just starting a new collection of 1oz silver MS 70/69s kookaburras & I am only going to collect the standard non privy versions I'm not quite up to speed with these but have already noticed there are privy versions of 2022 & 2023 1oz kooks. I'm sure someone on here will be able to tell me the score re the 1oz kook privy versions. Example of my ms 70 s
  6. Chat about anything Perth mint kookaburra, any size any metal proof or bullion graded etc. @kimchi @dicker @Organics @DW1777 @stefffana @Rares & any other kookaburra collectors
  7. The problem with privy marked kookaburras is there are literally hundreds of them.10- 15 years ago there was an Australian data base which had them all listed with mintage figures but it has since disappeared into the ether. That was the main reason I didn’t collect them you would never know if you had them all.Within those hundreds of privy marks were specific sets for example European countries so you could complete that set they were 1oz specimen coins in a case, basically a bullion kook struck twice. I had a few 2oz silver proof kooks with a privy mark & most of them I sold made no more (indeed usually less) than the standard proof coin. There are always exceptions as some collectors will know exactly what a specific coin is worth & if they need a rarish one they'll just buy it. My advice to anyone starting collecting kooks is keep away from the privy versions IMHO it is just the Perth mint taking the pizz to get more money out of collectors. Something our own Royal Mint is adept at. But as a collector if you particularly like a coin privy or no privy buy it.
  8. Just got another 2 ms 70 kooks, love these in their little plastic cases.
  9. I'm trimming some of my collections that I have duplicates/ the same designs of ,re 1oz roos I have the full run of silver 1oz proofs to keep me happy.Although I do sometimes find it hard to let go of stuff lol. But like anyone who is a collector you have to be realistic unless you have an unlimited budget.
  10. I've been collecting coins seriously since 2008 although I've bought the odd coin since I was a boy.I've various continuing collections still on going but I'd like to know what brand new stuff you are starting this year. For some reason I've never collected 1oz silver bullion kooks I have full runs in 1oz 2oz & 10oz silver proofs but not 1oz bullion. So today I'm starting a brand new collection of 1oz kooks in MS 70 these are my 1st 4

  15. I know that feeling well & I'm not particularly patient but if you are a collector you have to be, & persistence eventually pays off. A tip for you if you see a coin you really want just buy it even if its a bit pricey.I once held back on a 2oz lunar 1 silver proof & paid £200 more for it 6 months later lol, lesson learnt.
