British Monarchs Series - They Couldn’t, Could They?
BackyardBullion replied to Shinus73's topic in General Precious Metals
I will champion this so long and hard on my YouTube channel if they cancel this series. I will be demanding refunds on all my pieces already purchased and anything less than a full refund or recommencement of the series will be unacceptable. -

Reached out to my account manager again, still no news or commitment either way as to when/if things will come out. Just to clarify the above - my AM replied saying they don't know rather than no anser at all. -

Hmm, if this is correct I shall be throwing some toys out of the pram -
Well, maybe some progress. 3 weeks ago I did a video showing this set and we did our little "view source" trick to see how many were available, the quantity was 498 Today I see this set is "no longer available" Whether this has anything to do with what we are addressing on Wednesday I don't know - but I am sure as heck gonna ask The Royal Mint about it!

Oof, great price! Is that what they are going for these days? -
@Silverman2U @cjbcomm I think it is important to draw a distiction between proofs and historic coins which is what this thread is primarily about. Proof coins are expensive, would I like to see them cheaper, sure why not. Can you buy them on the second hand market cheaper, yeah sometimes. Historic coins however - these have a different feel to them on The Royal Mint's website. It feels like they have sourced them cheap and then slapped a massive price on to simply profiteer from people that don't know better. That's part of why I am inititiating this "investigation" and getting some feedback from the mint. I don't begrudge any company trying to make a profit. Taking a historic coin, checking it, authenticating it and then presenting it in a information sleave/box - sure thats fine and you can charge a premium for this for customers peace of mind. There is a market for this kind of product. What I have a problem with is that The Royal Mint will use their reputation and branding to make people think a coin is valued at a certain level just because they say so. Flagship of the world silver, 6x bulloin (poor condition if you see the photos) for £82.50 per oz is just a blatent rip off. £270 for a completely worn victoria young head crown...total rip off. Price those at £40 per oz and £120 per crown then I would have no problem. They are still expensive but they are not extotinate.

Most post office workers are good, but there are definitely some bad eggs out there. I was in a post office that is not my usual one and an older gentleman went up before me to the counter. He had a small, thin jiffy bag to post. He asked to send it by the cheapest method possible. The post office worker then asked, "For security reasons I need to know what is inside". To which he replied, "A charm bracelet for my granddaughter". The post office worker jumped on this opportunity to say, "You will have to send it special delivery as it is jewellery, that will be £7.65 please" The old man looked a bit taken aback and then started rummaging around in his pockets for the cash. I heard him say, "the bracelet only cost me £3 at a charity shop". I really wanted to step forward and say something, but I decided not to make a fuss. Maybe I should have done. This is not the first time I have seen this behaviour and it really makes me quite sad. The people that don't push back don't know any better and just get taken advantage of unfortunately.
