Some well priced rounds and bars to add weight to the stack. Some fractional bits. Then purely for my enjoyment because I thought it was cool and interesting a Charles III 1/2 real from the El Cazador ship wreck.

Milk spotting I believe is Borax that is left behind on the surface from part of the manufacturing process. There are all kinds of theories flying about but personally I do not believe, air exposure, moisture over handling is the cause for milking as many would tell you is the cause. I have some bars that are still completely sealed in factory plastic with no rips or holes and even they have milk spots. I have experimented on cheap bullion the eraser method and also a silver polishing cloth, both worked but also both present their own issues. Eraser I found it left quite visible scratches, polishing cloth left less visible micro scratches. Basically you end up removing one defect only to add another defect to the coin. These are the only two methods I have tried, milk spots are annoying and ugly and if they bother you that much and its just bullion out of the two I would use the silver polishing cloth personally. If it's a proof coin don't touch it and just send it back. I think the Canadian mint have improved on this issue recently, Royal Mint however are absolutely atrocious for milking in fact quite notorious for it. I got a tube of Brits recently and the amount of milking on them is disgusting!

I don't buy too much off ebay as a more potential for coming across fakes and also prices typically seem inflated. I have a browse from time to time and I have bought a few bits at reasonable prices. However the stuff I have bought is small weight/low value and also items that are more obscure/semi numismatic/semi collectable. Basically stuff that I feel is less likely to be faked, because its too niche and also not high enough value to warrant the effort. I am not saying that thought process means anything following that logic will never be fake but the chances are certainly smaller. You look on wish and it is full of fake maples, eagles, JM bars, Sunshine bars, silver town etc etc. So on ebay any of that popular well known generic stuff I steer well clear of, it's just not worth it.

Afternoon all, Found this forum after watching BYB videos on youtube, been a lurker on this forum for awhile now used it to buy a couple of bits from members, but thought I would just drop in and introduce myself, tell you a bit about my journey so far... Been thinking about collecting silver/gold on and off for a few years. I FINALLY bit the bullet in Feb thinking I would just buy a couple of oz's each payday... got the bug bad and have far surpassed my initial intentions! Got the 'collector gene' from my grandad who had many collections including coins, some precious metals and bullion but mostly old and rare historic coins. Focusing mainly on collecting silver, I enjoy the semi numismatic stuff with cool and interesting designs, don't know enough about proof coins and proper collector coins. Also recently just startied buying fractional gold and platinum I guess as kind of a pension pot for the future but silver is my hobby and what I enjoy. Looking forward to my time here and I hope to try and get involved where I can, it has been an absolute wealth of knowledge so far!
