I had a nosey and it seems that the jubilee 50p and £5 in cupronickel are 3 month waits for delivery. Assuming they weren't that prior to today, I imagine the high queue numbers may have been people who don't typically collect either having the notion to get something commemorative that is official (a Royal Mint coin), or trying to make a quick quid in turning them around?

My Yale has just arrived. I had warmed to the design so quite disappointed with a noticeable ding on the field of the reverse. Given the mess up here with the pricing, the messing around with the display box, I think I'm just going to return this for a refund and cancel my subscription to the series.
I blows my mind how negligent the RM are with quality control. To buy a proof coin is to expect top quality. And to have proofs with such large and reflective fields as this series does, any slight imperfection sticks out like a sore thumb.
On the box, I had been looking forward to assembling a collection from scratch myself and having it build up in the box over time. As a collector who is only a couple of years in, this was to be part of the fun for me. But my trust in the mint is not high anymore. I think I'll be sticking to some nice older coins (with the possible exception of the modern sovereign...) while the mint gets its act together.

What I think would be really interesting is to ask them for refunds on the first two coins as this was supposed to be a series after all. Personally I would be interested to see what they say.

As a gay coin collector, I’m more than a little disappointed with the reception this coin has had here.
Firstly, I'm actually pretty happy with the overall design. I can’t be alone in that I expected a dumpster fire of ideas but it’s come together pretty succinctly. Given the royal mint’s recent offerings, this has fallen in the “oh thank the lord it’s fine” category!!

More importantly though, this is a means of celebrating a deeply important moment in LGBT+ peoples history - a history most of us had to learn for ourselves given it was illegal to be taught we were valid human beings at school (see section 28/2A).

Jokes about “identifying” as this or that may seem flippant to yourselves, but to the people who live those lives it’s anything but. I won’t entertain all comments but I will say I’m not the only LGBT+ coin collector who dreaded opening social media today. And shockingly enough, a fair amount of LGBT+ persons are coin collectors.
I value this forum as a place of numismatic discussion, not a way of societally punching down. Again - I’m disappointed.

The comments here are an absolute disgrace.
It’s a new release 50p to represent people who have gone through hell to be who they are. I repeat, people who have gone through hell to be who they are.
Come on guys, you’re better than a comment as a joke for a few ‘likes’ or reactions.
I love this forum until I see these comments.
Imagine not being able to walk down the street holding hands with the person you love.
Imagine not being able to kiss your partner in public through fear of relatiation.
Imagine pretending to be someone you’re not.
Studies have shown: The most homophobic men are themselves bi or gay.
At the end of the day it’s a 50p. If you don’t like it, don’t buy it.
So many comments above could have never been if only the writer thought twice.

I think it is a nice coin..and hopefully there will be a range of different  versions....we all have our own opinions on pride but posting photos of Rainbow kids programme from years ago shows that there is still a lot of prestigious- Anti gay views and still people who can't except the world is a different place.....shame on you for your anti gay views..but not unexpected as there are still so many anti LGBT+Q people who are stuck in the past and can't move on. That's your problem and to disrespect a coin that represents the LGBT+Q society.....well live with it and keep your stupid posts to yourself...my views and opinions and I don't care if it upsets some gay haters on here...get a life and welcome to the modern world.

2022 Fifty Pence Pride Coins Royal Mint Page - New Release Coming Soon
I posted about this a few weeks ago, and had to ask Admins to remove it, as I had mistaken the embargo date, but now I can repost this to go on with:
    Celebrate with Pride -
Introducing the Pride UK 50p Coin

    According to the Royal Mint:
Built on the core values of visibility, unity and equality, Pride UK is one of the most enduring cultural movements in the United Kingdom. Over the years, the event has evolved from a political protest into a vibrant celebration of the LGBTQ+ community, making Pride UK a true highlight of the UK’s annual events calendar.
Now in its 50th year, Pride UK is more popular than ever, uniting LGBTQ+ communities nationwide in a colourful celebration of positivity, solidarity and inclusivity. In honour of this historic milestone, we celebrate the legacy of Pride UK with a new commemorative UK 50p design created by the artist, writer and LGBTQ+ activist Dominique Holmes.
Featuring Dominique’s evocative artwork, the coin encompasses the very essence of Pride’s history in the UK and marks the first time we have celebrated the UK’s LGBTQ+ community on a UK coin. Made with support from Pride in London, this release is not only a celebration of Pride UK but also a numismatic tribute to the indomitable spirit of the UK’s LGBTQ+ community.
The 50th Anniversary of Pride UK 50p Coin will be launching this summer. Don’t miss your chance to own this piece of numismatic history – join the celebration by registering your interest today and receive priority updates about this wonderful new release.
The page is a "Register Your Interest" page
I think the obvious silver proof coloured version shown looks great, although I think any monochrome versions will look quite ordinary.
    😎
