Here's my two bob worth* from observations of the secondary market here and other online spaces.  There's quite a lot of money in that and it might be worth looking up @Clarkatroid's saga to get a sense of what it might be like to liquidate that lot - especially the big silver bars.  You will take a bath on those if you have to flog them back to a dealer.   
Also the big gold - not many folks have the dosh for large gold bars.  It might be worth your while to look into diversifying some of those large bars into 1oz brits or maybe even tubes of sovs**.  These will be much more liquid on the secondary market and the spreads between dealer prices and secondary market value might actually be better than you would get selling the bigger bars back to a dealer.  Plus, Royal Mint coins such as Brits or Sovs avoid exposure to capital gains tax and it looks like you might have enough that you actually have to think about that (assuming that you're domiciled here in Blighty).
* - Note that I am not a financial advisor, nor do I play one on TV.  This is just an opinion.
** - Because of the large numbers produced, sovs have smaller spreads than most fractional gold, and are very, very liquid on the secondary market.  Spreads from dealer buy to secondary market sell are quite small and the liquidity makes them well worth considering.  I've seen folks rock up here with 50 or more sovs and flog them all in a few days.
 
 

The last weeks I have seen the premiums go crazy on gold here in Belgium, like 8% on LMU coins and 6% ons Sovereigns, before the LMU's were between 2-4% and the Sovs around 3-4%. The Mexican 50 pesos premium has doubled from 2 towards 4% and even higher.
Also a lot of stores have almost no stock available or don't want to sell at the current price, that's also possible.
But I never thought I would see the day that the premium on a old LMU coin would be higher than on an American Eagle ...
On the other side, the buyback prices have not gone up, even down so the spread has become much bigger, spreads of 6 to 8% for golden coins are now nothing special.

With "Bullion" silver I was referring to official minted coins from a country with a monetary value. These are still VAT free in many EU countries, like Belgium.
On rounds, bars ( that are not coins ), medals, ... and even junk silver ( constitutional ) lower than 85 or 90% silver ( not 100% sure which it is ) you have to pay VAT on.
But if I would buy a silver Britt in Belgium, I pay NO Vat on it.
And if you want to bet on it, just say the amount and I will scan and send you my latest order invoices of silver coins !

In most EU countries there is NO Vat on Bullion silver. On bars and rounds there is VAT. That was my point, nothing more. 
Why some people, like you, keep repeating that there is VAT on silver in the EU ( the EU is a whole, not one or some countries ), I don't understand ...

If you are so curious about the Belgian laws about silver and VAT, google is your friend or just send an e-mail to your Belgian colleagues, I'm sure there will be at least one who will give you the 100% correct information or law referrals.
For other EU countries, just check google again and look for online silver dealers in the EU, you will see that there are still other countries like Belgium were you can buy silver coins without VAT.
