You are 100 % correct, if you understand the risk and accept it you can invest in anything  and for any amount of time (including land on the moon if that is your pleasure),  however don't expect to recoup all the money or make a profit buying and selling physical in a short time.

If you have nothing to hide then bank the cash and spend on a debit card.  

Unless you are a grown up and that is what you choose to do

Physical gold is not suitable for short time investment.

I actually received this yesterday.  It slightly sad the the first rule of fight club gold stacking is never to talk about it, so I can't tell friends or neighbours.
However, since I am excited about this, I thought I would add it here.  My first ever 1oz gold coin: a QB Completer!
Only bullion, but apart from some very minor scratches around the rim, whch I think are due to it rubbing against another coin in the tube, it looks perfect to me.
I had been agonising about getting an ordinary Britannia, but I think this was worth the small extra cost in the grand scheme of things. 🙂

You could have a £500,000 compliant top graded safe at home to save your goodies and keep them safe, they can't access in your absence 
Any keen team then have 500,000 big incentives/reasons to return,  when you, your wife or family are indoors with the key to gain easier instant access
The price of a safe deposit box a year negates this happening on my doorstep and really helps you sleep easier 

Just buy a decent safe, install it and use it to store a little before taking it to a safety deposit box elsewhere. These can be ‘hired’ at a reasonable rate and are better than leaving stuff at home.

Have a look if there are safe deposit boxes near you.

I hate it when they don't properly centre the coin in the slab.

The only time I use cash now is for Facebook purchases or when I give the homeless fella outside McDonald's something. Other than that it's pointless, the surprising thing is, is that before COVID I was a cash only person, never paid with card but I kind of turned a corner on that one and try not to make daily life to difficult for myself. The one thing I haven't done yet is put payment options on my phone but this is more a option of self control. 
As for the op, just spread it all about and don't put all your eggs in one basket. Nobody can get by without a bank.

Bargain find from Facebook has just arrived! Mint sealed tube of 20 2013 brits. First year of the 999 silver coin, 10 years old and in better nick than 90% of what the mint kick out today 😆

Whilst I suppose the marketing was probably decided a long time ago I'm still surprised they're so enthusiastic and upbeat given how a few of the recent releases have gone. They need to learn how to read a room...

I saw my shares up today. Thought ah. Gold must be down. Hey presto. Doesn’t bother me - everything is doing its job! Just wish i had funds to top the gold up!

I like this one a lot despite flaws.
