My oldest quin so far, with a beautiful Machin portrait. Thanks @arshimo2012.

My EIC George & The Dragon arrived today too. I don't have the lovely wooden furniture as a background though.
And personally (might be controversial), I prefer this obverse portrait to the RM version.

An EIC St. George and Dragon in silver. Pity the Rogal Mint didn't do a Wyon St. G&D. I don't really like their interpretation of His Majesty, as he looks like there is some stinky peasants in front of him.
Couldn't really justify buying the gold version myself. EIC makes some very stunning coins but very few, if any, hold their value on the secondary market (except the actual Mohurs when they were the actual EIC).

Gjergj Kastrioti, commonly referred to as Skanderbeg, was a feudal lord and military commander who led an offensive against the Ottoman Empire in an area which is today comprised of the countries of Albania, North Macedonia, Greece, Kosovo, Montenegro, and Serbia.
As a member of the Kastrioti family, Skanderbeg was sent as a hostage to the Ottoman court where he was educated and subsequently entered into the service of the Ottoman sultan. Skanderbeg served the Ottoman sultan for 20 years, rising through the ranks and eventually being appointed as sanjakbey (governor) of the Sanjak of Dibra in the year of 1440.
During the Battle of Niš in 1443, Skanderbeg deserted the Ottomans and became the ruler of Krujë and nearby territories stretching from central Albania. It is here where, in 1444, the small Albanian principalities and fiefdoms were united under Skanderbeg in the League of Lezhë.
Skanderbeg’s military competency and ferocity posed a considerable obstacle to Ottoman expansion in Europe, with many considering him to be a model of Christian resistance to Islam in the 15th century.
The obverse of this spectacular coin features a most extravagant bearded-effigy of Prince Skanderbeg which has become increasingly popular with collectors over the past three years. It’s easy to see why!
The reverse depicts a stoic winged Venetian lion, indicating the Venetian control over the city of Lezhë in which Albanians united under Skanderbeg.
A sublime coin with a fascinating history! 💫

More lustre shots
Some recent and not-so-recent acquisitions of older coins that still show much of the original finish. These have made an appearance further up, but I'm taking shots with the less diffuse lighting.
Enjoy

Found this nice Old Vic at the coin show today. In one of the vendors priceless seconds boxes, so purchased at bullion prices. Nonetheless in fairly good condition and quite photogenic.

First effort on this thread a Vicky Shield I recently traded, (crude methods employed) taken with iphone 11 and window sill for lighting, thought it captured detail quite well 🤷♂️
