FTYBR got a reaction from KevinFlynn in Today I Received.....
2 Full Sovereigns from The Bullion Centre. The little black pouch was a nice touch
Although stated as mixed years, received 2014. These are actually the first new sovereigns I've got - can't deny, love the shine.

Looks amazing even though I'm more of a star trek guy myself!
Really pushing the boat with what a "coin" is.

A few more arrivals today. The Bond coin is in perfect condition, it is a guaranteed 70, no doubt about it. I have to congratulate the Royal Mint on this one, the quality and craftsmanship is impeccable.

Some real rarities just arrived today...3 from France, and 1 from Germany.....eventually!
The coin below will need a new entry creating at NGC census. The 1914 POZG and 1915 PVG will only be the second example to be graded by NGC...the last coin, the 1968 BBB ain’t too common either!

The postman just came around!
Dropped off the 2oz silver Bonds, still waiting for the 1/4 gold. Oh, and a bullion sov to go with the gold price rise
The Bond coins seem fine on first inspection.

I just can resist these ultra rare 2013 3-coin Strike on the Day sets, already own one but when this came up for sale I simply couldn't resist getting another!
Also another addition to the 1977 collection, a proof $1000 year of the snake proof. Have the bu already so this will go nicely with it. Off for ncs and grading first.

FTYBR reacted to Arganto in SILVER DEALS - (UK & Europe) See a deal, post it here
If selling to a dealer then yes, they will often pay a good percentage under spot for Sterling as they'll count it as scrap in a lot of cases. Bullion By Post for instance will as of right now give you 55p/gram for .925 scrap when 92.5% of spot should be a spit under 63p/gram. Interestingly they're offering a couple of pence per Troy ounce over spot for recognised .999 coins.
That said a private buyer will often pay more than the dealers for Sterling and lesser silver content items for various reasons, especially if they are good condition proof coins etc. Just look at the premiums on the more popular piedfort proof £1's. From my observations there seems to be a mentality amongst a lot of silver buyers of "silver is silver" with a view to stacking the weight even if not pure with an eye on a big jump in intrinsic value. This way it's easier to justify paying the price for equivalent pure silver weight on things that a dealer would not. In my opinion 😁
