foinikas reacted to NGMD in NEW St. George and the Dragon coin with Garter inscription
So my 5oz replacement came. Fingers and toes crossed.
Looked good😁 Louped it and I’m very happy with it. The box lid doesn’t stay open though…..Photos are bad but take my word for it.
It’s got a lot of black belly button fluff but nothing you don’t expect.
Not being a conspiracy theorist, but the replacements are cleaner and better quality and @GoldDiggerDave has been AWOL. Just saying.

I had posted this some years back - at least they did one of them so far.
1817 Sovereign by Benedetto Pistrucci
1845 Prince Albert Medal by William Wyon
1910 Pattern Crown by A G Wyon
1935 Silver Jubilee Crown by Percy Metcalfe

foinikas got a reaction from TutoredSoup232 in New Royal Mint Bullion
The drawing is so beautiful but the design on the bar is horrible. The face of Una is like a bodybuilder on steroids and the Lion seems like missing its lower jaw.. similar with the bad face they gave to proof Britannias in 2023.. i hope they fix this and make it as the drawing..

Well I’m a long time lurker but decided to create an account to finally have my day on this. I have an account manager at Royal Mint, I spend a lot with them every year. And this is what I received as my 2oz Gold Pistrucci…… the wonkiest edge I’ve ever seen on a coin!
Needless to say I went a bit bonkers at my account manager. I was also one of the cancelled 5oz Petition crown customers so I had a fair amount to say. Not sure I have an account manager anymore hah! But seriously £5.5k for that? Seriously close to giving up with RM

My 2 oz and 5 oz silver made their arrival to California. They both look spectacular and I’m very pleased. 2 oz looks quite small next to the 5.

foinikas reacted to GoldDiggerDave in Gazette Proclamation - Waterloo Medal (Great Engravers 2-coin set?)
As much as I like the Waterloo Medal it's just odd why they are making these are a two coin set.
2oz gold coin 40mm in diameter
most of the silvers between 40-65mm.
What a total crock of .......t we are not going to be able to see the "master piece" of Pistrucci's work as intended at 40mm for the 5.5k+ gold and £275+ for the silver its utterly pointless and the design will be lost.
.....Royal Mint you make me want to cry.

Who knew this would come SO FAST!?
Most likely part of the Great Engravers range, and forming a trilogy of Pistrucci’s works including St. George and the Dragon.
https://www.thegazette.co.uk/notice/4571112
For the obverse impression Our effigy with the inscription “· CHARLES III · D · G · REX · F · D · 10 POUNDS ·” and the date of the year
And for the reverse either:
(a) a depiction of Prince Regent George of Britain (later King George IV), Emperor Francis II of Austria, Emperor Alexander I of Russia and King Frederick William III of Prussia surrounded by symbolic scenes representing peace; or
(b) a depiction of the Duke of Wellington and Prussian Commander Gerhard Von Blucher, represented as two horsemen accompanied by a representation of Nike, the goddess of flying and the chariot of Zeus, surrounded by figures of men with serpent legs.

Let’s narrow this down, who owns one that’s good?
They won’t replace them all the way they are going.

It will take longer than that for the secondary market to settle, I think, maybe 6-12 months.

I could have because I got through in a flash, without even seeing a queue number.
But quite frankly my balls weren't big enough to take such a plunge!

Well that was surprisingly quick, as the 2020 sales were only published a month ago?
But here they are!

I can assure you TSF is not Flipper central.
You’re not in Venezuela anymore Dorothy. The members here are shrewd, knowledgeable and spend a lot of time stalking groups/dealers and communities for bargains they can share (Christmas Bars @Gordy is a classic example). There’s nobody here selling over the market value or they’ll be hounded and shamed. If they can turn a profit which is acceptable to the seller then that is exactly how things work. This is not a ‘non profit charity’ and maybe compare outside of TSF and retract that comment. It is untrue.
TSF is the high bar, all the rest are the Wild West.
Paid membership here also gives you access to bargains two days before standard members if you feel you are missing out.

Having dissed this coin on TSF a few days ago, I have ended up with a 2oz gold, 2oz silver and 5oz silver.
I think i've got a problem.

foinikas reacted to Shinus73 in NEW St. George and the Dragon coin with Garter inscription
None of the silver will win, all will be available below RRP in the coming months.
Generally, 5 oz silver has been a consistent loser in recent times, even with tiny mintages.

Good to read this and hope something comes of it. I've expressed my own thoughts on this subject in other threads so won't dwell too much on it but I do very much see what they're doing as just taking advantage of those who don't know better and do feel it is wrong.
As for this coin I'm very glad we've reached a point where I could completely lose track of these releases, not get up early, not queue yet still get the 2oz silver to keep my Great Engravers set going. No stress.
