  1. I've been trying to complete an order since yesterday afternoon. The fact that they won't let me complete the purchase is bad enough, but what's worse, they won't even let me withdraw the money in my investment wallet so I can buy elsewhere. I'm absolutely fuming!
  2. Maybe it's a girl thing, but I genuinely love this coin, and my daughter is a big fan too! This Marion has a very similar design aesthetic as the reimagined Una from the bars last year, and those are beautiful in person.
  3. I really love this coin! There are elements in the design that irk me a little - the cuff that she's wearing bothers me, and the historian in me wishes that she was wearing a more period accurate hairstyle - but on the whole, I like it. It's shaping up to be a nice series so far.
  4. Anybody know of any UK or European dealers that are going to be stocking the Scottsdale Mint gold St Michael? I think I'm in love 😍
  5. I think this has got to be my favourite silver coin ever! He arrived today, and I just can't stop looking at him! I normally avoid high premium coins, but I couldn't help myself for this one - my only regret is that I can't afford a whole tube of them! 😍
  6. Silver really isn't a short term investment. Unless you get lucky on a piece with high demand and limited mintage that you can flip quickly, the profits come from holding for the long term as fiat slowly devalues over time. That's why I don't worry too much about spot and premiums. But even if you had to sell in an emergency, if you're selling to other silver stackers (here or on Ebay, for example) you'll always get a fair price...the only time you'll ever make a serious loss is if you have to sell at spot to retailers out of desperation.
  7. Cheating slightly since I received these all earlier in the week, but since they all came from forum members here, I thought I'd share! The Brit tubes were from @GreatBritishBullion, the air-tite capsule for the Una bar was from @BiteSizeTrader, and the ASE and Pamp bar were my auction wins from @Jamesd 's MS Society fundraiser. Gorgeous pieces all round! 🥰
  8. I get what they were going for, and the original Alfred jewel is magnificent, but the design just doesn't transfer well on a modern coin. It's just too much of a contrast. If they were to do a Kings and Queens range in a similar vein to the Myths and Legends with realistic figures, that would be a winner. Or maybe produce a more stylised coin that would work better with the artwork on the Alfred jewel...maybe something more obviously Anglo-Saxon looking? This design feels likes it's got one foot in the past and one in modernity, but it doesn't work for me.
  9. Nice one! 😀 Payment sent. This was a great idea, @Jamesd. The MS Society does fantastic work, and I got myself some lovely pieces of silver as well, so win-win!
  10. Many (most?) people prefer a comfortable lie to an uncomfortable truth. What saddens me is that when you sit down and talk to people about these issues - not just monetary, but other things in society that feel instinctively 'off' - they'll often agree with what you tell them, they just don't want to have to deal with it any further. Even when they can see the man behind the curtain, they'd rather ignore him and keep plodding on with the status quo. I'm not sure I blame them. The truth can be messy, inconvenient and frightening, and even knowing that the folks at the top are nudging us down a dark path, realistically, what can any of us really do? I almost envy the sleepers sometimes.
  11. It's bad, right? I've had scuffed coins before and never bothered with returning, but I think the damage to these is excessive enough that I'm going to have to see about sending the flawed ones back. I hope they just give me an exchange. I really love these coins, and I normally don't mind a few scratches, but the premiums are too high to overlook this kind of damage.
  12. Got mine! What a beautiful coin, but I can see the quality control issues that others have picked up on. I don't expect a proof finish on a bullion coin, but the Queen's head has taken a bit of a battering during the minting on three out of four of my silver coins, which is disappointing. I really want this series to do well, and I think it's got a lot of promise, but RM are hobbling it with a reputation for poor production quality before it's had the chance to find it's feet.
