Just posting a link to a commentary by a Gent who I take a lot of notice of.
His business is flogging shiny stuff, so there is some bias admittedly.Β
Enjoy!

That's a beauty! So much history in these.
Roses - silver from Cornwall and the West Country was used to make this coin. I love the fact they included the provenance of the metal on the coins themselves.

1887 is a nice year to collect for sixpences.Β As you probably know, there are 3 main types to collect that year - the Young Head version (usually the most expensive), the Withdrawn Type (yours), and the Wreath Type with the Jubilee Head.
They withdrew your version of the coin because people were trying to pass it off as a half sovereign.
Here's the Wreath Type with the Jubilee Head (my own coin).Β Basically, they went back to the old design:

Some of you may have seen this video before by Ray Dalio on "How the economic machine works".
If you haven't, I highly recommend that you watch it - it's really insightful on the short and long term running of the economy and gave me an indication as to where we are in the long term cycle...Β Are we approaching a deleveraging phase and the "lost decade"?
In terms of interest rates, they go up to slow down borrowing and enable debt to be paid down.Β They go down to stimulate borrowing.Β
However, over time, a limit is reached as to how much interest rates can be changed.

Had this cracker arrive today. Unusual one for me but couldn't resist because of the detail! Shame my trembling hands and old phone don't do it justice - if it looks 'soft' anywhere that's the bad photo because the coin itself is really detailed.

simmstacks reacted to SidS in What is your most prized piece of silver?
My first hammered coin, not worth much. I got it for about Β£10 back in 1994. Not even that pretty, Edward I 10A Canterbury mint.
Then Braveheart was released a year or two later and I thought, "Hey I've got a Patrick McGoohan coin".
