The set is looking good so far, very visually consistent. I think the Seymour Panther is, still, the best design😁

Is it definitely confirmed that the BU Memorial 5 sovereign piece is a matte finish?
I agree that it will be a great complement to the Platinum Jubilee BU five sovereign piece, but personally I think these coins work better in non-matte finish.
    Here are mine:

And i was looking for a thread about American 2 Cent coins, but while I am here:
I quite like the 50 pence design, which is directly copied from the 1953 and 1960 (five shilling) crowns.
While I was expecting to see some attraction in the other two designs, I don't think either of them have much aesthetic merit, particularly the double portrait one.

Silver Detected in a Yellow 2022 Royal Mint Gold Quintuple Sovereign - Herald of Change or Simple Blip?
For those who care about the colour of gold sovereigns, this might just be important news and a portent of imminent changes for the better, or it could just be a random one-off occurrence.
For those who don't know, most recent sovereigns, and the extended sovereign family, have been an awful coppery-red colour for about the past 20 years. Traditionally, they were a pleasant yellow colour, similar to real, pure gold. This is because sovereigns used to contain a small proportion of silver, which made a big difference to their colour.
If you look of the recent 2022 Gold Briilant Uncirculated Quintuple £5 Sovereign, or photos of it, they look yellow not red / pink / rose.

    Surprisingly yellow.

    Niton test result (wrongly titled):

I have already posted this in my earlier topic / thread here:
But I thought this unexpected development was potentially too important to appear as an afterthought.
The observant will notice that I have titles the Niton sheet as 2022 Double Sovereign, but I must have been in too much of a hurry, as often.
It should be headed 2022 Quintuple Sovereign (No beers for spotting this too late).
    Obverse:
    Gold 918 +- 3
    Copper 81 +-1
    Silver 1 +-0
    Reverse:
    Gold 918 +- 3
    Copper 82 +-1
    Silver 0 +-0
I was pleasantly surprised by the obverse reading, but then slightly suprised by the initial reverse reading of 0.
When I pressed the "details" button, I got further information:
    Silver 000.5 +- 00003
This was more or less as I expected.
Both silver readings were probably slightly under 1 ppt, but the obverse must have been enough for it to get rounded up to 1 ppt, while the reverse got rounded down to 0 ppt.
Nevertheless, this is a very interesting result.
I was partly joking when I suggested the RM might have sneaked some silver into the alloy, perhaps as a consumer or other test. I may just have hit the proverbial nail on the head.
Although the matt finish may have helped the apparent colour, it is beyond doubt that the tiny silver content has improved the colour.
    Will we ever know?
    Watch this space!
I have yet to test one of the 2022 Gold Proof Piedfort Sovereigns, but will do so in the next few days, and add the results, but they also look quite yellow.
    There is hope!

I posted about this a few weeks ago, and had to ask Admins to remove it, as I had mistaken the embargo date, but now I can repost this to go on with:
    Celebrate with Pride -
Introducing the Pride UK 50p Coin

    According to the Royal Mint:
Built on the core values of visibility, unity and equality, Pride UK is one of the most enduring cultural movements in the United Kingdom. Over the years, the event has evolved from a political protest into a vibrant celebration of the LGBTQ+ community, making Pride UK a true highlight of the UK’s annual events calendar.
Now in its 50th year, Pride UK is more popular than ever, uniting LGBTQ+ communities nationwide in a colourful celebration of positivity, solidarity and inclusivity. In honour of this historic milestone, we celebrate the legacy of Pride UK with a new commemorative UK 50p design created by the artist, writer and LGBTQ+ activist Dominique Holmes.
Featuring Dominique’s evocative artwork, the coin encompasses the very essence of Pride’s history in the UK and marks the first time we have celebrated the UK’s LGBTQ+ community on a UK coin. Made with support from Pride in London, this release is not only a celebration of Pride UK but also a numismatic tribute to the indomitable spirit of the UK’s LGBTQ+ community.
The 50th Anniversary of Pride UK 50p Coin will be launching this summer. Don’t miss your chance to own this piece of numismatic history – join the celebration by registering your interest today and receive priority updates about this wonderful new release.
The page is a "Register Your Interest" page
I think the obvious silver proof coloured version shown looks great, although I think any monochrome versions will look quite ordinary.

I just ordered The Queen's Reign Honours and Investitures 2022 UK £5 Silver Proof Piedfort Coin.
I like the signature on the coin and the edge writing. The mintage is not bad at 1510.
It will be for my own collection (no plans to sell it).

    Picked up my panthers today.
Great coin, love it and the reverse frosted is STUNNING.
Quality of coins is great, nothing wrong to my eyes.
THE BOX HOWEVER - ribbon is basically broken and as you might see from the video later today the first impression opening this package was LESS than good.
Also, ROYAL MINT - get the little things right please, put the bloody coins in oriented the correct way round - this is how I was presented with my coins.
It shows either a) A complete lack of care and precision in the QC process or b) Total ignorance regarding the presentation of their products.
IF I RULED THE MINT - gosh, heads would role.

3 to 4 coins a year is a lot. Me personal missed the Gothic, so unneeded powder is dry. The only RM series, i'll continue right now, is the Tudor Beasts. Even if i get a portrait, i don't think about paying extra high premiums for other Great Engravers coins. So i'm not super excited about the next GE releases. Propably i'll turn from now on to Jack the Flipper, every time i'll get a Great Engraver coin, since i don't have the whole collection. Not sure about this monarchs series, but i think the main interest will be in the UK. Can't see americans, chinese, or european collectors go crazy for this.
The first one will be a blind buy, if i don't get murdered again in the queue. If this coin looks nice, i'll go for the next one. If not, i'm out. I have enough stress at work i do for a living. Coins are my hobby and i want enjoy collecting.

Well, i am dissapointed to be honest.
i am not a big fan of portraits, i always buy coins for the reverse design so having two faces in one coin is not my cup of tea and i think some people will agree with me.
To my eyes, this series will be another failed attempt to extract the last drop of milk of a dying cow by the Royal Mint.
Peoples wallets are empty from the last 3-4 huge releases (completer, sovereign proofs 2022, Gothic Crown and platinum Jubilee coins) . In my opinion, they should have taken a break and let peoples wallets recuperate and prepare for the next big thing.
This is a no from me.

I am also very interested in this.
Will it be a Great engravers instant flip profit maker? Probably not, depends on mintages...
Will they be interesting and beautiful coins, probably...
Might end up being the equivalent of the queens beasts proofs, slow out the gate with improving performance over time.
My only concern will be budget. Not a lot of powder left in people's barrels after sovereign, gothics and jubilee coins!

I realise the herd has moved on to the Gothic release- but for anyone who continues to follow the beloved Sovereign here's something that you might be interested in:

I did this exercise initially on the 20/11/2021 and last on the 29/11/2021 (results below at the very bottom of this post) and updated today Saturday 11/12/2022, I've repeated it - so you don't have to!

Using the search term '2022 Sovereign' on eBay on Saturday 11/12/2021:

Significantly- there are still surprisingly few,  in terms of the amount of 2022 Sovereign issues for sale (all denominations and sets).  The figure of live sales on eBay has doubled since I last completed the exercise there are currently 83 sales posts (Previously 41) using the search term described above.
5 Coin set- 5 Sales ranging between £5795 through £6995- Average sale price- £6348- NO FURTHER SALES
4 Coin Set- 2 Sales ranging between £3250 through £3750- Average sale price- £3500- NO FURTHER SALES
3 Coin set- 4 further Sales- (previously 7 Sales) ranging between £1249 through £1500- Average sale price on 4 sales is down- £1337   (previous average £1391 on 7 sales)
Sovereign- 17 further Sales- (previously 27) ranging between £675 through £799- Average sale price on 17 sales is down- £737- (previous average £762 27 on 17 sales)
Half Sovereign-  11 further Sales- (previously 13)  ranging between £369 through £424- Average sale price on 11 sales slightly down to - £408 (previously average £416 on 13 sales)
Sovereign/ Half Sovereign combo- 1 Sale at £1300 NO FURTHER SALES

Not a scientific or absolutely accurate view of how the 2022 Sovereign is progressing, but I'm sure those invested in them will be encouraged by this Special Release's performance.

    Previous data 29/11/2021:
