HighlandTiger got a reaction from Pipers in Wallstreetbets eye up SLV
The only problem I see with this scenario, is that if the reddit guys succeed in their plans of bringing down hedge funds and banks, then the already fecked economy is going to get an even bigger hit. The stock market crashes as everyone sells their long positions to cover their shorts, the economy crashes, inflation rises, unemployment rises, austerity goes back on the table, peoples pension pots decrease massively, and we're all screwed.
Whilst the reddit lemmings are thinking they are sticking it to the man, they are actually in danger of destroying their own lives.
The only hope on the horizon, is that all these bored people sitting at home isolating, pretending to be day traders, will eventually go back to work and p!ssing their wages away down the pub/bookies/casino, instead of the SM, or they lose all their cash because they weren't quick enough to sell at a profit.
Being part of a massive group sticking it to the government, is all well and good but you have to live with your actions afterwards.
By trying to see the bigger picture, I'm now, hoping that the reddit craze gets stomped on and crushed by the big guys,......The damage they could cause is just not worth it.

wsb seems to be turning on the silver posts, they're trying to keep people focused on gme apparently

Honestly, I don't buy the narrative on most of this event. Institutional money probably made a killing on all of this and now watching people play tug of war over who gets to hold the bag.

i would agree with @HighlandTiger there is not much of a market for these medallions. i have seen these coming up on the forum - i have been tempted sometimes and i think i once bought a set here after the price had been dropped and dropped to the point it was being sold for scrap value - indeed i think it was under spot. In their day they will have gone for a pretty price, like many other Sunday Supplement offerings. Nowadays i think most of them are destined for a bath in nitric acid and recycling.

I am liking Petrofac at the moment and have built a decent position. One of the most shorted UK stocks at the moment and a bit of a battle going on between shorts/longs. The shares do look grossly undervalued even with the SFO investigation lurking in the background. One to watch as they are also effectively an oil producer given their PSC contracts. They also recently signed a big contract that has not been RNS'd yet.

Oil is up strongly today, maybe because of Saudi choosing to reduce production - https://www.bloomberg.com/news/articles/2021-01-04/oil-extends-losses-after-opec-talks-suspended-without-decision
Sometimes I think we're just trying to pin news to certain happenings in the market to make sense when really it's bigger stuff happening internally, who knows, but assuming it is the Saudi oil cuts..
Saudi cut oil production because they don't like what they see in demand Causing price of oil to rise Causing people to rush into oil stocks They aren't cutting production because it's a great time to be in oil yet the end result is people jumping into oil stocks like this is a great time to be in oil
I guess the end result wrongly or rightly is it's a great time to be in oil stocks, even though it's not, but it is so it is

This whole thread can be boiled down to people moaning that the UK hasn't continued a tax loophole found in one tiny country in the EU.
People buying coins, is never going to be high on the Governments list of things to do. For every person on here who knew about and used the loophole there are a hundred people buying silver with 20% vat on it without batting an eyelid.
Perhaps instead of whinging about how you cant avoid tax on something anymore, (you pay it on everything else), just change your stacking strategy. There is plenty of VAT free silver out there, in fact there are thousands of tons of VAT free silver waiting to be bought in the UK right now. It's called flatware.

HighlandTiger got a reaction from Paul in What will the price of Gold be (£/GBP) on 1st Jan 2022
Gold will go up next year and it will also go down. The £ however will rise against the $ and Euro, due to Brexit boost, GDP up and the UK getting out of Covid much faster (We'll get to 70% inoculation by April/May)  than either the US (they wont get to 70% population inoculation until September at the earliest) or the EU, (they'll still be struggling to get over 50% by December), so any rise in Gold in $ will be negated by the strength of the £.
Gold will be about $2000 but gold in £ will be about the same as now, £1,400. Silver on the other hand will be about £24.
Also the numbers 03, 10, 16, 28, 42, 44 will win a raffle or lottery sometime, somewhere in the world  in 2022

We always treat the Channel Isles as part of the UK but they are outside the EU.
Anything being shipped from the Channel Isles below a value ( around £12 I think ?? ) is subject to VAT and packages have always had to have a customs declaration, or if postage paid electronically a declaration filed on-line. So now that the transition period is ending, all goods arriving from the EU will be subject to VAT but not duty or quotas as that's in the agreement. Buying from GS.be or the European Mint for example will be invoiced VAT free but subject to UK VAT on arrival. Freedom of movement of goods has come to an end.
