Silver has possibly entered into a bull cycle anyway and this was just some plan to push it before it's ready.

The WSB crowd did a good job of short-squeezing an overly-shorted stock and making money out of it. If the reports are correct, hedge funds lost $40 billion, so applause is due. That is how markets work. But you have to learn to know when to take your profits. Maybe GME was cheap at $20 and shouldn't have been shorted at $30, but it is certainly not worth $200. It will go back to $30 to $40 soon enough. Too many of the Reddit crowd are naive traders who are playing with tools they don't understand.
Last year on a Reddit forum I saw a post saying: I bought this call option on a stock and the stock has gone up, but my option has gone down, why is that? They posted a screenshot showing the contract note. Someone replied pointing out that they had sold the option, not bought it. This highlights two important points. There are naive traders who don't even know whether they are buying or selling. And there are platforms like Robinhood that are letting these naive traders do risky things like write options, which have potentially unlimited downside.

I'm now laughing at the reddit crowd. My gut feeling is they've all been done up like kippers. The hedge funds have pulled out of GME and the only people holding this c**p stock are the retail investors. It isn't going to sky rocket, it's going to wander about a bit and then crash and burn.
The winners? Gamestop, because they sold enough extra shares to stave off going out of business, and the brokers, fx providers and clearing houses who have made huge profits from the increase in trades.
Losers? Anyone still holding GME stock thinking they are part of some sort of rebel army and thinking they are going to be rich.

I wonder about how up-to-date those short figures are. Bear in mind that funds can trade large amounts of shares off-exchange. Even if they are correct, it may be that the original shorts have covered their positions and others have moved in. I don't care to speculate in retailers, because I know nothing about them, but if I did I would rather be short than long GME at the moment. If the shorts have deep enough pockets, they will just ride out the current price mania and wait for normality to return.
Also, the number of shares in a company is not a constant: GME might decide to issue new shares in order to extinguish their debt. Nobody could really blame them if they took advantage of the opportunity - it would be the prudent thing for any company to do if they found themselves with an inflated share price.
That is where silver is different. We know the rate at which it is produced, and it can't be printed. A company can go bust, but demand for silver will not go away. The silver price is held down by shorting, but like gold, there is pressure on physical supply.

From what I have read GME is down because the hedge funders are using the short ladder technique to make it seem like everyone’s selling and create panic with wsb GME holders.
Wsb holders also state that the call to short squeeze on silver is a diversion brought to life by the hedge funders as this would partially compensate their losses in GME.

people are not laughing at the lower classes, they are laughing at the actions of a few.
there's a way to do things, and then there's the 'cut off your nose to spite your face' approach.

    Update:
We did see a small sales spike mainly late in the weekend, but nothing crazy.
This morning we are hearing that the Royal Mint are not accepting bullion orders, and premiums are being increased just about everywhere.
We have managed to cover all bullion coins sold, but who knows when we will get deliveries!
We have also increased many of our premiums on bullion items, but only by enough to cover the increased premiums we are being asked.
Currently bars have not been affected, but it could spill over to them.
Gold:Silver ratio came down to below 63, so it has halved since I was "pushing" it at 126.
    Platinum still looks cheap.

My opinion exactly. I said early last week by intention was to get in and out quickly with a bit of profit. Sadly I ended with a little loss as I got out as soon as I saw robinhood and 212 do the dirty.
I'm now keeping out of it all, apart from anything happening with anything I currently own.

For sure. As I mentioned earlier, no way a gaggle of individuals will beat Wall Street long term. If you get a win, take it and run before you get crushed.

For those playing gamestop, they should take their profits and run. WallStreet (the casino) will let them have this lucky battle win but wont let them win the war. Not a chance. They have trillions at their disposal and will crush the gaggle that are reddit and WSB.

Interesting to see the middle buy price on bullion vault a few seconds ago was £21.10 for silver.
I may have to up my prices on my sales thread. 👍

The only problem I see with this scenario, is that if the reddit guys succeed in their plans of bringing down hedge funds and banks, then the already fecked economy is going to get an even bigger hit. The stock market crashes as everyone sells their long positions to cover their shorts, the economy crashes, inflation rises, unemployment rises, austerity goes back on the table, peoples pension pots decrease massively, and we're all screwed.
Whilst the reddit lemmings are thinking they are sticking it to the man, they are actually in danger of destroying their own lives.
The only hope on the horizon, is that all these bored people sitting at home isolating, pretending to be day traders, will eventually go back to work and p!ssing their wages away down the pub/bookies/casino, instead of the SM, or they lose all their cash because they weren't quick enough to sell at a profit.
Being part of a massive group sticking it to the government, is all well and good but you have to live with your actions afterwards.
By trying to see the bigger picture, I'm now, hoping that the reddit craze gets stomped on and crushed by the big guys,......The damage they could cause is just not worth it.
