  1. Hello and welcome to The silver forum
  2. When I started out I was buying silver from some expensive UK dealers and bought a sizeable amount. Then I learned about EU silver from a BYB video and started looking into customs and how the prices are cheaper in the EU. Coins after that were around £12 cheaper an ounce. Felt a bit silly for not starting buying from the EU sooner. It would’ve been so many extra ounces stacked.
  3. Discounted price on Australian Kangaroo for 48 hours at coininvest. https://www.coininvest.com/en/gold-coins/australian-kangaroo/1-oz-nugget-kangaroo-gold-coin-2021 About £30 premium on a new 1oz coin at the moment. Edit: Just tried buying, £1386 with customs declaration fees and postage. Not worth it. I sincerely apologise, I forgot about declaration cost on orders over 1000.
  4. True, these posts are always good as reference points and keeping an eye on new fakes; so thankyou. It shocks me how these pieces sell for high amounts on eBay while the listings and coins look quite fake. I was only making a joke on how they hardly put any effort into scams now.
  5. The sovereign is 1oz in the description. If you're going to scam, atleast put some effort and try to make it believable. The scammer has lost my respect now 😂
  6. The beard hair really seems to be a recurring theme here. Possibly someone using electric shavers at work haha. Honestly, its sad to see what the RM are becoming now. These would be proof coins so their original argument of maintaining a difference between their bullion and proof varieties is null at this point. Looking forward to your video BYB
  7. Hi and welcome to the forum. Feel free to ask any questions in the gold section, everyone would be quite happy to answer them.
  8. Hi and welcome to the forum. Look forward to seeing you around the subforums.
  9. I'm waiting till silvertrader lists it, would come in a capsule with post included for cheaper.
  10. It will never be reinstated. However, assuming they did. Countries would need to buy massive amounts of gold. Also the gold price would need to be adjusted by the governments to reflect the amounts of cash and money in circulation. (Just like the US did after confiscation; instant $10 profit on confiscated gold) It’s not practical considering how complex our economies are now. BoE’s take on Fiat “One advantage of a system that uses fiat money is that the amount of money in circulation can be responsive to changing economic conditions. This can support the smooth functioning of the economy. By contrast, the total amount of money circulating in the economy during the Gold Standard was ultimately limited by the amount of gold that could be mined.” Source: https://www.bankofengland.co.uk/knowledgebank/what-is-money

    eBay yet again

Atleast it’s a credit card, you’re covered over £100 and they will reimburse you if anything happens. Although probably the payment will go through. I once had a issue on a non pm payment where the company was being annoying after they charged a lot incorrectly. I just disputed on my app and got refunded immediately.
  12. Officially I haven’t seen one yet. Although if I remember correctly Alun did make new trays to accommodate the coins in his regular box.
  13. It’s letting me add to basket and go to checkout. Worth trying again if you’re after it.

    A bargain?

It is 24k plated according to another listing. https://www.goldgenie.com/product/24k-gold-mens-racing-bike/ Unless it’s 8 kilos of gold plate the bike is worthless; except you can ride it whenever you feel like getting mugged
  15. Hello and welcome to the forum. Loads of information on the forum and feel free to post any questions if you have any. Everyone here will be more than happy to share knowledge. Also, you might find some queens beasts listed in the forum buy and sell section too. @Gordy listed some completer coins for sale on the forum today.
  16. I have capsules on coins i have one or a few of, or one off peices I really like. Most of my stack was bought by tubes and I haven't messed with the mint seal. So I just store in tubes mostly. Except 2 tubes of athenian owls I enjoy rubbing my hands on and am thinking of using them as ''betting chips'' in family games on holidays. I am lucky enough to have some silver, might as well enjoy it
  17. (Not recommending, just stating my opinion for my stack) For me, its about the weight acquired. 10g would have lower premium per gram, smaller coins have higher premiums per gram. So I would buy one 10 gram instead of multiple fractionals. Although personally, outside of 1 oz bars; I stick to sovereigns which are a great fractional coin available at decent premiums. I did buy a ''1 gram bar'' as a novelty. A bar generally has no numismatic value or extra desirability but you can probably still sell at the premium when selling peer to peer. If you sell to any dealer around the world, all that matters is the weight of the gold in the bars.
  18. I do wonder who the Royal mint buys from, their listings make it obvious they don't have leftovers lying around from that era. Would love to know if anyone has sold to the RM or knows how they stock up. However, as @Rll1288stated; the authenticity is a big part of the deal for buyers who wouldn't be able to verify otherwise or are too scared to buy from other sources. Also OP, I'd be happy to sell you a George V Perth sov at a bargain price of £659 😂
  19. Wow, That is one beauty. Congratulations. The condition looks great too. I’ve been looking for mohurs and gold rupees too. If not too personal; how much did that set you back?
  20. Hi and welcome to the forum. Your question would get more visibility in the general precious metals. To answer it atkinsons is pretty well trusted amongst the forum and I have bought a lot of bullion through them too. I personally have not heard of price matching bullion yet. Dealers prices are usually tracked with spot and a slight premium depending on metal weight (bigger coins have less premium). You can compare different sites to see what’s better. You could also get a premium membership to this forum and use the compare tool that shows most dealers, it helps this forum and you can also see new deals on the buy and sell section.
  21. I tried searching around for the little anchor shield to no avail. (As a makers mark) Are there any other letters stamped outside the photographed area? @KevinFlynn has already done the heavy lifting on all the other marks.
  22. The hallmark seems to me like the Harrison Brothers and Hawson, sheffield hallmark Harrison Brothers & Howson Sheffield 1871 hallmark on stock photo Business founded in 1847 by James William Harrison, Henry Harrison and Willian Howson as successors of Thomas Sanson & Sons. http://www.silvercollection.it/englishsilvermarksXHHHH.html < link to compare yourself Do you have any idea what the handle is made out of? It is stunning.
  23. Congrats, It was a gorgeous coin. It was in my watch list but forgot to bid on it haha.
